Implementing the plan

The important work of bringing the plan to life starts NOW!

Mid Deeside Community Council will submit the plan to Aberdeenshire Council for registration as a Local Place Plan

To be effective as a Community Action Plan, our community must take positive action to implement these Initiatives and Proposals. The Local Place Plan team of Mid Deeside Community Council will work with Aboyne residents, businesses and stakeholders throughout 2025 to organise meetings and form interest groups to take forward the Initiatives. The Local Place Plan team will aim to have active interest groups in place by summer 2025

Key areas for progress in 2025 include:

• Re-establishing Aboyne Business Association (Initiative #16)

• Establishing the local governance forum (Initiative #21)

• Establishing strong communications channels between community stakeholders and with residents and visitors (Initiative #22)

• Organising regular community litter picks (Initiative #24, Proposal #24.1)

• Working with key stakeholders to make inroads into improving mobility (Section 3.2)

Additionally, our community wants significant progress to be made towards re-opening Aboyne Bridge (Initiative #1)

What-3-Things?

We want to know “What-3-Things” you think could:

1 - deliver visible improvement in Aboyne;

2 - be achieved relatively quickly; and

3 - be actioned with limited or modest resource

Such relatively simple actions will make a difference. We are building a list which we will share with you here and on community notice boards so that members of the community can continue to contribute their ideas and, importantly, offer to take action. This is already underway. A growing inventory of ideas has been generated and actions including wildflower planting and gate painting have already been implemented

Please Contact us with your ideas and offers to help!

A new logo for Aboyne

Aboyne Academy's S3 Graphic Communication pupils have been working hard to produce a new logo for Aboyne as the Thriving Heart of Royal Deeside

We are going to use this logo when taking forward the Local Place Plan Initiatives and Proposals

You can see S3's wonderful designs here. If you have a favourite (or two, or three!) please let us know!

Why?

To ensure that local government takes account of OUR VOICE on OUR VILLAGE'S FUTURE in plans and decisions, and to support funding applications for community led projects. See Why it matters for how our community's VOICE has helped enhance Aboyne centre, improve road safety and much more in recent years

How?

The VOICES of local individuals, businesses and organisations have shaped the new ABOYNE LOCAL PLACE PLAN which will feed into the planning system and demonstrate community support. See Have your say for how your VOICE has made a difference

When?

We held a survey and group sessions in autumn 2023 to hear the VOICES of our community. The results fed into a series of Initiatives which we consulted on with key stakeholders during spring 2024. We consulted on the draft plan November 2024. We will submit the final version of the plan to Aberdeenshire Council for registration as a Local Place Plan in January 2025 to ensure that OUR VOICE is included in the next Aberdeenshire Local Development Plan

Who?

Local community groups and individuals came together under Mid Deeside Community Council to develop the new ABOYNE LOCAL PLACE PLAN. We made a real effort to ensure that all VOICES were heard, from all parts of our community

Our community must now take positive action to implement the Initiatives and Proposals in the ABOYNE LOCAL PLACE PLAN.  Everyone's help is needed. To get involved, in whatever way you can, please Contact us!

Thank you!

An important THANK YOU to our community for pulling together on this project. We are grateful to everyone who completed the survey and helped to distribute it, attended engagement sessions including the Community Open Day on 23 November 2024, and to those who provided valuable feedback on the Consultation Draft LPP.  Many thanks also to the staff and pupils at Aboyne Academy and Aboyne Primary for ensuring that the VOICES of young people in our community are heard. And thanks too to Aberdeenshire Council's planning team, Our Place Scotland and the Marr Area team for all their help and support
